1Hood Media Academy

The mission of 1Hood Media Academy is to build liberated communities through art, education and social justice. 1Hood Media Academy seeks to establish a platform for artistic expression to further the economic and creative advancement of artists by providing a safe space for youth to learn, grow and tell their own stories. 1Hood Media aims to be the vehicle that will identify, develop and inspire the artists and activists of today and tomorrow.

About the 2022 Advancing Black Arts in ÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø grant: This $100,000, will be used for 1Hood's reorganization operations and to enhance programming to advance its mission, vision and values and build capacity for long-term sustainability. This work will be led by a collective of diversely skilled creative professionals rooted in Black ÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø through lived experience, critical inquiry and an unyielding commitment to Black liberation. New consultants and staff in the planning, development, marketing, administration and digital media sectors will help accomplish this reorganization and expansion, furthering 1Hood’s overarching goal of providing multiple platforms to amplify the authentic representation of Black experiences and desires.
