The William C. Comptaro Fund was established with a charitable gift from who died in 1997 at the age of 60. He left his life savings to ϲʹ to create two funds. The William C. Comptaro Education Fund was to be used to provide “scholarships for payment of tuition and grants for the purchase of textbooks,” without regard to academic performance, to students working part-time while attending a post-secondary institution. It was his intention, he wrote in his will, “to help students who are trying to help themselves and who may not have other opportunities available to receive financial aid.” Today, the fund operates together with the Laura E. Elden Educational Trust and the Frances L. Lewis Memorial Scholarship Fund as the Comptaro, Elden, Lewis Combined Scholarship Funds.

Comptaro also created a second fund that supports housing security.
