The Alice Hearne Gillmor Memorial Fund was established with a charitable gift from after his death in 1982. Alice Gillmor was George Gillmor’s mother and the dominant parental influence in his life, as his father died when George was a young boy.

The fund was established for the exclusive “tuition, maintenance and support, use and benefit of Futures for Children,” a nonprofit in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  For more than 40 years, Futures for Children organized programs to improve the quality of education available to Native American students. Since the dissolution of Futures for Children in the 2010s, the fund has supported the Coro Center for Civic Leadership, United Somali Bantu of Greater ϲʹ Inc. and Social Venture Partners ϲʹ.
