Shalom Lecture Fund
Established: 12/12/1961
The Shalom Lecture Fund is one of the three separate funds established at ϲʹ by the late attorney Ben Paul Brasley. This fund was stablished to support annual lectures on religion and culture at the University of ϲʹ.
Brasley died in 1981 at the age of 96. He was described as an “unpretentious and unassuming” person whose extensive generosity was matched by a rare degree of humility. He was believed to be one of the few Americans who donated more than 90 percent of his income to charity. Although no one will ever know exactly how much he gave away during his life, it is known that he supported groups ranging from the Unitarian Church of North Hills to a kibbutz in northern Israel.
