James A. Dunlap died in 1922 at the age of 67, but today this fund bearing his name continues to support people experiencing poverty in his hometown, Tarentum, especially at Christmas.

In his will, Dunlap allocated money to the First Methodist Episcopal Church and Pollock Lodge 502 both in Tarentum. He further dictated that whatever remained of his estate following his wife’s death should be “distributed at Christmas time for the relief of indigent persons living in and around Tarentum.”

His wife, Margaret A. Dunlap, died in 1935. Since then, the fund has continued to address the needs of low-income people in his hometown by distributing funds to the Tarentum Salvation Army and the Allegheny Valley YMCA in Tarentum.
