Bruce E. Haney Charitable Fund
Established: 5/3/2011
Bruce Haney was a courageous man, generous friend, and wise soul. He fought a courageous battle against cholangiocarcinoma—a cancer that originates in the bile duct or liver—with a strength that inspired many.
While doctors believed Bruce had four to six months to live, he defied the odds and went on to live another 3 ½ years. He spent much of that time helping to raise awareness for the disease and half-million dollars for the Raizman-Haney Endowed Fund to support liver cancer research.
Bruce earned his a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and master's degree in taxation from DePaul University. A certified public accountant, he worked for several prominent companies in ÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø including FORE Systems, ECHO Realty and was President and Co-Founder of the Gustine Company, a commercial real estate development firm. He was also an avid golfer, athlete and sports fan and loved watching his daughters play field hockey.
He died peacefully on Jan. 17, 2013, at home at the age of 56.
The Bruce E. Haney Charitable Fund was developed through Bruce's generosity and concern for others and was formed to contribute to the Raizman-Haney Endowed Fund. The fund hopes to enable existing and new generations of doctors and scientists to work together on research to finally defeat cancer.
