Peaceable Kingdom Fund
The Peaceable Kingdom Fund was established by Eric C. Hulmer, a lifelong environmentalist who was committed to the preservation of animals, both domestic and wild, and the environment in which they dwell.
Born in Germany, Eric moved to Harmony, Butler County, as a youth. He held degrees from Yale University and the University of ÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø. During World War II, he served in Europe in Army Combat Intelligence under General Patton and was decorated by the King of Norway.
Eric went on to work with the National Gallery of Art Fellowship at Mellon Institute where he was active in the preservation and restoration of art. Later he was Curator of Conservation at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio.
He was particularly passionate about environmental projects in Lake Arthur and Moraine State Park. One grant has enabled the purchase of fledgling ospreys, helping to restore the population of fish-eating hawks that once thrived in Moraine and wetlands throughout Pennsylvania until they were killed off by chemicals. The fund has also supported the Montour Trail Council.
