Kurowski-McCrea Memorial Fund
The Kurowski-McCrea Memorial Fund was established to honor the legacy of the parents of both Jim and Renee McCrea: Ed and Helen Kurowski and Chuck and Eileen McCrea.Ed and Helen Kurowski, hailing from Bentleyville, Pa., were an honest and hardworking couple. Helen was a homemaker, raising three girls, although she still found time to volunteer for her church and other charities. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Ed was a technician and then manager at Sears Service Center who could fix practically anything. As a result, he was always being called on by friends and family members to fix a broken washing machine or help install a backyard deck. Ed’s charitable interests included veteran’s organizations and children’s health care.
Chuck and Eileen McCrea were life-long ϲʹers. While Chuck died at an early age, his legacy lives on in his five children, eight grandchildren, and 14-and-counting great-grandchildren. Eileen spent most of her life working for the City of ϲʹ. After retiring, she volunteered at the Brashear Association as an adult reading tutor, and then with the Emmaus Community of ϲʹ, where she eventually became employed as assistant to the director.
As they reflected on establishing their fund, Jim and Renee McCrea said, “Our parents probably never thought much about leaving a legacy but their hard work, example and dedication to their families and others have resulted in this Memorial Fund. We hope to honor their legacy by supporting organizations that we feel align with their charitable interests.”
