James graduated from Yale's class of 1950 and went on to work briefly for Gulf Oil. After deciding that wasn't for him, he went back to school at The Carnegie Mellon Architectural School, and graduated in 1957. He was a Partner in Design Alliance for many years until his retirement.
The fund supports the ÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Symphony, ÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Zoo, Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Science Center, WQED, and The ÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Public Theatre.
