William and Louise Hunt - Man and woman standing outside in sun-filled day with stone wall in background. The William and Louise Hunt Scholarship Fund was created to encourage graduating senior women from South Park High School to enroll in a four-year college program in fields of study that have been predominantly dominated by men. These include the fields of the sciences, engineering, technology and mathematics (STEM). William and Louise are long-time residents of South Park and their daughter, Melissa, is a 1999 graduate of South Park High School. Melissa is also 2003 magna cum laude graduate of Virginia Tech majoring in chemical engineering. Melissa is also actively employed as an engineer and also involved in the Virginia Tech scholarship fund, William is a 1975 honors graduate of Grove City College and is a chemical engineer and registered professional engineer. William worked for more than 35 years for Koppers Company as a project manager before retiring and establishing his own engineering consulting company. The hope for the future is that the fund will continue to grow thus enabling additional deserving graduates of South Park High School the ability to apply for and be awarded scholarships so that they can become leaders in their chosen fields of study.

In addition to the STEM fields of study instrumental music also is included as applicable fields of study. Melissa was a member of the South Park Eagles marking band and William a member of the Washington High Little Prexies marching band. Music has been fundamental to the Hunt family and those deserving graduates who are continuing their education in instrumental music and are found to meet the criteria are also eligible to apply.

Although Louise unexpectedly passed away in 2018, the scholarship fund was established to honor her and create a legacy that would make her proud.
